flexible working hours

One of the five alternative working arrangements (which are compressed work week, flexible working hours, job sharing, telecommuting, and part time work).

University of Manitoba's "Flexible Hours" Study

what is it?

Picture
Flexible working hours refer to any work schedule that allows employees to have options in the patterns of their work hours. for example, a woman may work from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M., and then 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., and then 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. These types of schedules provide workers with freedom in their job while still making sure they are responsible and meeting those "eight-hours a day." Flexible working hours assist organizations in appealing to and keeping skillful employees who have busy lives full of responsibility. These kinds of people include single parents with child-care difficulties, and employees who care for elderly parents.

A recent University of Manitoba study  found that Canadian women who have flexible work schedules are seventy-five percent more likely to have a healthy balance between their professional and family lives than those who do not.
